Rhubarb magnificents

Mr Lear came back from the market Saturday with armloads of rhubarb - an armload for the sorbet, an armload for the crisp, and this armload for the compote - all courtesy Mr. Lebovitz. It was the edge of a leftover ricotta orange pancake dipped in the remains of the rhubarb crisp that inspired magnificents - it was like suddenly thinking things and being able to speak them in Hungarian - crusty, moist, both sweet and sour with salt and wine and spring.

I made strawberry rhubarb pie with a small bunch Mr. Phila bought this weekend! What a coinkidink! I'd never tasted, let alone cook with, the stuff. It was marvelous...make that magnificent.

Rhubarb is my favorite!!! I, too, have rhubarb and am making pie tomorrow! If there's enough leftover, I'll make a loaf of rhubarb bread. But how do you do the compote?

Oh yum, rhubarb crisp is one of my favorites! I've never tried sorbet, but can imagine the deliciousness...

Oh I miss Rhubarb. I miss Grama. She used to make strawberry-rhubarb pie for my birthday instead of cake. I've never seen it here in South Florida.
