This year I am embracing the cool fogginess of my backyard. I just got my copy of Pam Peirce's Golden Gate Gardening. We're lucky to have some fruit trees and some herbs that have gone native in back; I keep a pot of mint on the front porch. But this Spring I would like to put in a few more things. I want to grow some viney things.

Renee's Garden is a good source for you.
I plan on gardening today, but we had another frost last night so maybe not a wise idea on my part. I can't stand the brown, Florida is supposed to be beautiful, not brown. I love San Fran, such a gorgous place.
I like your "work with what you have" way of thinking. My partner and I took a different route. We let our windy hillside on the Oregon coast continue to support hardy roses, heather, daisies and hydrangeas. For our vegetable desires we took a plot in the more-sheltered community garden!

I bought my mother a dwarf pomegranate tree for Mother's Day from Gurney's online. It didn't take long to ship at all. And they have all sorts of wonderful "viney" things that are a bit more compact than huge trees. Also sent my aunt some rhubarb plants from them. Good luck, Mrs. Lear!---and post photos for us of your lovely garden!
Up early this morning to plan my window herb garden. Such a tiny window to work with and I want to grow too many herbs! But was thinking that if I HUNG a plant or two... Then began to wonder if Mrs. Lear knew of any patterns for unique plant hangers? Everything I'm finding online has that wooden beads and hemp 70s look.
Thanks!
