Housekeeping


I've been paging through these housekeeping books looking for schedules or forms to add to my planner. There's a chapter on canning in So You're Going to Get Married that reminds the reader to ignore snide comments like, "I thought Mr. Dole canned pineapple!" Whenever we are discussing making anything from scratch (mustard, bread starter, yogurt) I hear that voice.

  2. Oh and I hear YOU! I made a small (very small by canner standards) pot of mixed berry jam last week. I was tickled with it and it was delightful. The comment I got from a very evolved human was "tastes as good as Smuckers!" My comment back was "no more handknitted goodness for YOU!"

  3. I am trying to be "reasonable" in the amount of canning projects I am undertaking this season...I would prefer for most of my food to be processed by me, so I too find "that voice" annoying. Produce canned at the peak of freshness tastes better than anything out of a factory!

  5. I wish I had read this post before we left behind on my mom's bookshelf "The Beatiful Person's Guide to Beauty" by Luciana Pignatelli. I would have sent it to you for your collection. What a HOOT! I think it must have inspired "Miss Piggy's Guide to Life"--with which classic I will never part.
