Green socks
The color of these Smooshy socks is beautiful. After wearing them for a day I wish I had knit them a tad smaller; they have stretched out a bit. I still have not hit upon the perfect sock yarn/pattern combination for my clog-wearing self, but I am getting there.
This daylight savings/Spring Equinox shift in the light is too much sunlight! I love tall old windows lined with lace curtains, but I want them to look out on fog, rain, and deep shade, like summer cottages suffocating beneath Mermaid roses. I have seen people in magazines hang buckets of grasses or bamboo outside their window to hide air ducts or dumpsters. Perhaps I could staple some branches across my windows until some Wisteria or morning glories grow? Plastic ferns? I want softly filtered light, only Northern light.
I'm with you: I want grey days. Too much sun makes me feel overburdened and tired.
ReplyDeleteYou obviously live in California. Some of us here in the rust belt (south central Pennsylvania) are LONGING for some sunshine! It's been five months of gray, gray, gray interspersed with occasional bits of snow and a lot of sleet and freezing rain. Enough already!
ReplyDeleteI'm with berrysmom (though a bit further east) and I love my southern exposure.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it's time for some MWP inspired hanging in your window.
I love these socks! Sock for bag exchange, perchance? I'm willing to bet my feet are bigger than yours.
how about viney plants? harriet beecher stowe trained ivy over her very victorian windows instead of curtains. (long ago and far away i was a tour guide in her connecticut house and had to explain this to people all day long.)
ReplyDeleteWhat's MWP? The green of the socks is usually only available in nature: amazing what mere humans can now achieve. As for the wish for a sunscreen: you could knit a curtain using very large needles; hang a net hammock; 'paint' the window with soap to desirable thickness of translucence; drape a colorful saree....
ReplyDelete.....or stick toothpicks halfway down about 3 sweet potatoes and plunge each of them in their own jar of water. Vines in no time. Here in Iowa, though, we long for days and days of sunshine!!!!!
